Dr Edwina Coughlan
Edwina graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from University of Western Australia in 2008. She discovered a passion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology during her 5th year rural medicine rotation in Western Australia. She then undertook general training in the remote Kimberly region of Western Australia, before starting her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at King Edward Hospital in Perth.
Edwina moved to Victoria with her husband and 3 children to pursue her specialist career in regional Victoria. She has strong family connections to both Ballarat and Wangaratta. She has completed advanced training in high risk obstetrics, pelvic floor and minimally invasive surgery at University Hospital Geelong and Joan Kirner Women’s and Children in Sunshine.
Edwina has completed further post graduate qualifications in medical education to support the teaching of medical students, junior doctors, nurses and midwives. She has a strong interest in research and completed her Masters of Clinical Research in the field of Ovarian Cancer in 2019.
Edwina is a high quality, passionate Women’s Health Specialist, who fits perfectly into the Surfcoast Fertility team.
She believes in a holistic, patient centred approach to women’s health conditions such as menstrual disorders, vulval disorders and pelvic pain. Edwina has skills in colposcopy, advanced laparoscopy and pelvic floor surgery and is currently undertaking the Masters of Reproductive medicine through University of NSW.
Edwina is excited to share her expertise and provide high quality care to the women of Geelong and neighbouring regions.
